Sick Baby

     Poor little baby girl is sick.  On top of that she doesn't want to nap and is selective on when she wants to eat and how much.  So therefore, it's been a trying week.  The last couple days she'll be acting and looking extremely tired so I'll put her in her crib.  An hour or so later she's still not asleep.  She chewed a pretty big dent in her crib while we were waiting on her to fall asleep.  Kevin walked in her room and said she had paint chips all over her face.  She has chewed on her crib before and just gnawed a layer of paint off.  But this was down to the wood and into the wood.  I think she's part beaver.  There's a spot where her top and bottom teeth chewed through it.
      Yesterday we introduced whole milk into Lydia's diet.  We only replaced it with one feeding for now and will increase it slowly.  She didn't have any reaction to it thank goodness.  We are on our way to not buying expensive formula anymore and not spending 20 minutes washing bottles everyday.
     Lydia will be 11 months old next week.  I can't believe I'm about to have a 1 year old.  Sometimes I still feel like I should be a teenager.  And then I remember that my age rounds up to 30. 

Playdates!

I know, I know.  I haven't updated my blog in about 2 weeks.  Kevin and I have had a pretty crazy last 3 weeks.  After we got back from Texas a couple weeks ago we had to unexpectedly head right back to Texas a week after we got back.  We were able to squeeze in a play date with our buddy Noah however.  It was so cute to see the two of them playing together.  Everywhere that Noah went Lydia was sure to follow.  He crawled into his room and Lydia was right on his heels.  And then he shut the door!  It was hilarious.

New things Lydia does: she can now clap her hands.  She has learned how to hide her food to make Mommy think she has eaten it...while sitting in her booster seat, she grabs the food off the tray and puts it down by her legs.  Sneaky little thing.  She has also learned to walk with her walker.  It's so cute.  She'll just go trotting down the hall with her walker.  Also, her hair is getting so long.  It seems like it gets fuller and longer everyday.

Fun Trip

     Well we are back from our Texas trip.  Only one more of those to do before we move to Oklahoma and then back to Texas.  We had a good time.  It didn't feel as rushed as those shorter trips normally do.  While we were in town Lydia turned 10 months old and cut her 8th tooth.  She's getting so big.  Our next trip will be for her 1 year birthday party.  I can't believe it.  It seems like just yesterday she was a newborn.  I'm really glad we are out of that stage though.  It's fun to set her down on the floor and watch her crawl around and pull up on everything.  I don't miss the newborn stage that much. 

 After we were in East Texas for a few days we headed to Austin.

 Lydia tried out the pool for the first time.  It didn't go too well.  She better get to liking it though, since I plan on doing a pool party for her birthday.

 Lydia loves her Uncle Aaron.  And I think he's pretty smitten by her too.

After our few days in Austin we headed back to Tyler to enjoy more family and friends.  Lydia got to go to her third play date.  I love watching her interact with the other babies.  It's adorable.

Auntie Colette put her talents to use and gave Lydia a new hairdo.  It's her very first ponytail!  So cute.

We enjoyed hanging out with all our friends from big T-town.  We really miss it.  And Lord willing we will one day move back to the area and be able to enjoy it that much more.

Zoo!!

Saturday morning we decided to go to our local zoo.  They were having $1 admission day.  It's normally $8 per person.  So we decided to take advantage of it, along with the rest of the city of Springfield.  It was pretty crowded.  There were a ton of strollers!!  You don't notice this stuff until you have a kiddo.  It was fun though.  Lots of cool animals that you could get really close to.  It seemed like a lot of the birds there had free roam of the place.  There were peacocks just walking around all over the place.  And I guess some geese had made the zoo their home cause there were a lot of geese walking around as well. 

Hippos are so cool.  Even though they don't actually move that much.  I think this one was in and out of sleep.

I haven't seen a peacock in so long, I forgot how pretty and HUGE they are.  The colors are so bright and when they spread their feathers out they are humongous.  Also, I didn't realize that they could jump like cats.  This one above jumped down off of this railing to the ground and then later we saw one jump from the ground onto at least a 6 foot fence.

Lydia got to see her some alligators.

They have a deck you can walk out on to see and feed the giraffes.  It was pretty neat.  Lydia is holding her toy giraffe as we play with the real ones.  One of the giraffes was a little too playful.  He lunged at every person who walked by him.  In the few minutes we were looking at them I saw him lunge at some lady and knock her in the chest and then he scared a boy half to death.
